The program must address the needs of the entire global organization at all levels of the business and must also be portable. To be important to this company, the program must engage employees in career development activities that add core project and program management competencies to their already vast knowledge. The program must be designed to support the company's world-wide presence and be based on globally accepted project management standards and practices. TSI Approach:This initiative required TSI to develop a comprehensive understanding of the organization's education needs and develop a tailored curriculum solution. We knew the solution had to include a tactical solution and strategic component in order to meet the demands of this organization and to satisfy their requirements for updating the content. Our approach was carefully planned to meet each of the company's delivery objectives utilizing TSI's experience and knowledge as a base. Rather than responding with a list of specific classes or training modules, we developed a comprehensive career path and associated training framework that included educational and experiential components tailored to the company's desired certification requirements. From this framework, TSI then developed a training curriculum that supported the career path and ensured it aligned with the company's strategic goals. TSI also ensured the career path and associated training/educational curriculum reflected the latest guidance provided by the project management industry leading organizations such as PMI (Project Management Institute) and IPMA (International Project Management Association). Ultimately, our approach would provide a solution-based training program that is repeatable and portable. Final Solution:The final deliverables for this client are a solution based-program which includes the development of a career path framework and competency model for the company's key consultants. Building on this foundation, our career development curriculum engages senior management, the company's consultants and other stakeholders within the organization. Classes are piloted, delivered, refined, revised and then put into an e-learning format so that delivery is standardized, repeatable and maintainable. The e-Learning component is additionally designed to provide a cost recovery process for the organization. Client Results:Having their consultants complete this program served as the catalyst for organizational change, enhanced communication and the adoption of best practices. Rather than participating in free-standing classes from a myriad of possible training providers without a clear set of goals or skill-based objectives, consultants were able to immediately realize the value of a complete curriculum in project management with emphasis on applying these skills to their daily work. Other outflows included certification for those who desired it.
