Today, executives at True Solutions Inc. (TSI) in Dallas, Texas, announced their company would offer a four 10 hour day work week for full-time employees. The four 10 hour day work week program will begin July 21^st, and is strictly voluntary. Employees choosing to keep a five day work schedule will be allowed to do so.

The company will continue to operate Monday through Friday as usual, but individual employees that volunteer will work a four day week, with either Monday or Friday as their additional day off. As the price of gas continues to rise, the option of the shortened work week is an attempt to help employees cut their fuel costs. Some other sited benefits of this option are longer work days will allow some employees to commute to and from work before and after peak rush hour times; fewer cars on the roads will reduce congestion, which saves fuel consumption for everyone; reduced congestion has proved to increase the safety on the highways; and, a reduction in congested, stop-and-go traffic also reduces emissions that damage air quality, particularly during the summer months when "ozone alerts" that indicate immediate air quality problems are possible.

"In keeping with our philosophy of a engaging and innovative workplace, we wanted to help our team members with the recent increases in the cost of gasoline," True Solutions' owner, Wes Balakian said. "With the average cost over $4 per gallon, we know this places an extra hardship on our team members. Since we believe that our team members are our most important asset, we want to do all we can to help."

"By providing flexible four day work weeks, it means 20 percent fewer trips to and from work, reducing gasoline consumption, not to mention more time with family," Balakian said.
